Scripts version 9.1 change Log
Sound Forge 9 is becoming quite usable now, with the most recent version of the scripts
You can download scripts version 9.1m, for Audio Studio 90, or for Sound forge version 9.0e at the links below.
In the mean time, here are some observations on the outstanding issues which remain to be addressed.
People have asked whether Sound forge 9 is more CPU intensive than previous versions. It would appear to be true. Audio skimming with the arrow keys, on my system anyway, appears to be slightly more sluggish, even with the most responsive audio driver settings, but still quite usable. Especially when a long process is under way, you may notice that jaws becomes very unresponsive, since Sound Forge is effectively hogging the machine. Some people have had better luck dropping the priority of the Sound Forge process from nornal, to low-normal. You can do that in the task manager, accessed from anywhere by pressing shift+control+escape. Arrow to the forge90 process and hit the context key. Choose, set priority submenu, then arrow to the priority you want to try and press enter.
Remember, this version can record up to 8 tracks at once, if you have a multitrack sound card. But, it is not a true multi-track editor, where you can listen to one track while you record a second track.
Though you can choose to record on only one track of a multi-track file, you can not hear the other tracks playing while you do it.
If you do not presently own Snowman scripts for Sound forge 6 7 or 8, and wish to take the scripts for a test drive, you will also need to
Download a Demo Authorization file for jaws 5 or later
If you presently already own scritps for sound forge 6 7 or 8, you do not need the demo authorization file. Your present authorization will enable these scritps as well.
Plase the contents of the zip file, as well as the demo authorization if needed, into the user-specific settings folder for your language and version of jaws.

Installed 9.0, and now sliders in 8.0 don't work
This advice applies when you find sliders that do not operate correctly. If you press jawsKey+f1, and jaws says that it may not recognize this control, then this would apply to your situation as well.
if you install the sf9 demo, some of your sliders in SF8 will stop working. You can correct this by focusing on a slider that doesn't work, then pressing insert+7 on the numbers row, to reclass that control as a slider. These will usually show up as some kind of fader class. But, tell jaws to think of it as a slider.
Scripts Version 9.1 Change Log
Following is a list of areas that were addressed in scripts version 9.1.
Version 9.1m
The change log for this version is empty, but it is slightly better than version l. We just can't remember exactly why.
Version 9.1L
This version addressed some issues with speaking the zoom ratio as you use up and down arrow. It works more reliably now, and works when you have data selected.
Version 9.1i
This version resolves some keymap conflicts that have been pointed out by users:
- Sound forge has assigned the numbers on the numbers row to jump to a given marker or region in the current sound file. These numbers were assigned by the scripts to jump to a previously marked sound file, marked with shift plus a number. In previous versions, you had to press jawsKey+3, to pass key through, then press the number of the marker or region you wanted.
Now, you can single click a number to jump to a file, or double click the number to jump to the marker/region.
- The scripts had assigned alt+space to play the clipboard, which conflicts with the standard application context menu key. PlayClipboard has been moved to control+shift+p.
- A couple hot keys were added to the noise reduction pluggin, to save or delete a preset.
- A new hot key for most dialogs, which places focus on the more... button in the dialog. It's a quick way to jump directly to a known point in the tab circle for that dialog.
Version 9.1h
- Up and down arrow, and sayLine now work better in the regions list, more accurately speaking the highlighted item. Times are now also spoken in a more friendly manner
- Corrected the hotkey help for the extract Regions dialog
- Updated the version check to not complain about sf version 9.0e.
Version 9.1G
Update to support Sound forge version 9.0d. A little bit of work on automatically maximizing the application at startup, And on deleting markers, which was not working on some machines.
Version 9.1c
- If you have not written any custom scripts for Sound Forge 9, then ignore this item.
New hotkeys were added to file forge90.jkm. If you have added any of your own scripts for forge90.jss, save your file before installing. The forge90.jss file which is part of the release has not changed. But, be careful that your forge90.jss is not overwritten with the version from the .zip file. Also, the keymap, forge90.jkm has been changed to add new hotkeys. You will need to use the new forge90.jkm version, and would need to manually add your own hotkeys into the new file. .
- Record Dialog, added support for the other methods of recording, such as automatic based on date and time. New hotKeys were added to access special buttons that do not appear in the tab order. A brief set of instructions for that dialog, supplied by a user, is shown below.
How To make Timed Recordings.
- Extract Regions Dialog, this dialog was previously completely inaccessible, thanks to Sony. Even now, it is somewhat
nonstandard. Open the Extract Regions dialog from the tools menu, and Check insert+h for instructions on operating the dialog. You will find it useful to hve established a couple of regions first.
- Progress Announcement, JAWS should speak percentages again as you are loading a file, or performing other extended processes. This Does not yet work everywhere, but is brought back to SF8 functionality.
- File Switching HotKeys, Assigning an open file to a key on the numbers row. These did not seem to be working under JAWS 9. But, they should work now.
- Seletcion time, this was not working well on some machines, and has been slightly redesigned internally. Hopefully, it still works on your machine. If not, let me know.
- Channel meters, minor improvements in reliability, and takes the European decimal point into account.
- Control+t now works again when speaking time elapsed while recording. You can use control+t, or control+shift+m for that purpose.
- Insert+delete now reports the total file length again.
The following was posted by a user, regarding how to make scheduled recordings.
- Open the record dialog as normal and select the "Automatic timed mode".
- Press control+shift+A to add a new event.
- Tab until you hear, "name:". IN this field, type the name you wish to
assign to the event.
- The next tab over is the Kind of event. Set for one time only, weekly,
ETC.
- The next tab over is the date setup. You will observe that these are
edit spin boxes. The left most column is the month, the column just to the
right is the date, and the next column is the year. IF you already know how
to use the edit spin boxes to set your clock in the date and time via the
windows control panel, you already know how to use the edit spin box
controls. IF not, hears how:
- Beginning with the month which is in the left most column, arrow up
or down to the month you wish.
- Now, press the right arrow key once. This will put you in the date
column. Arrow up or down to the date you wish.
- Next press the right arrow to get to the year column. Arrow up or
down to the year you wish.
- Having set this, tab once over. This will put you in another set of
edit spin boxes which consist of the time of day setup. From the left,
these are hour, minute, and AM or PM. Set these in the same way according
to the instructions in step 5.
- Next, tab once over. This will put you in yet another set of edit spin
boxes which control the duration of the event. These look the same as the
edit spin boxes for the time setup. The left most column is the hour, then
the minute then the seconds. set according to instructions in step 5.
- Now, tab to and press Okay.
- Next, press control+Shift+l to access the event list. Arrow to the
event you wish and then leave the PC curser at that point.
- Next, tab to "Arm" and press the space bar on this button.
- Remain in the record dialog window and recording will proceed as
intended.
